About CraftingUK
CraftingUK is a place for people who make things with their hands to share what they've made, how they made it, and the patterns behind it.
We started with yarn. Crochet and knitting sit front and centre here, and they're the crafts with the deepest support: pattern uploads, hook and needle sizes, yarn weights and tension. But crafting rarely stays in one lane, so there's a corner for paper, paint, pottery, sewing, wood and a couple of dozen more.
What makes us different
- Written the British way. Crochet and knitting posts are in UK terms, the way most of us learned. Visitors can switch any post to US terms in one tap, and stitches, yarn weights and hook and needle sizes convert automatically. The conversion charts are there for printed patterns too.
- Straight from the designer. Pattern files can only be uploaded by the person who designed them, with the licence shown on every download.
- The Made it! wall. Every project has a wall where you can pin a photo of your own version. The designer gets told, and everyone gets to see how one pattern turns out in a hundred different yarns. See the wall.
What you can do here
- Share projects with photos, instructions, materials and tips.
- Share your own patterns as PDFs, charts or text, under a licence you choose. You always stay the copyright owner.
- Save and love other people's makes, leave kind comments and ask questions.
- Follow along with RSS feeds for the whole site or a single craft.
Sharing that looks good
Every post gets a proper preview image when you share the link on Facebook, Pinterest, WhatsApp or anywhere else. If you've added a photo we use that. If you haven't, we generate a colourful card in the colours and pattern of your craft, so nothing ever shares as a blank grey box.
Who runs it
CraftingUK is run independently from the UK. Say hello through our contact page.
