Abbreviations: ch = chain, sl st = slip stitch, tr = treble (US dc), sp = space

Round 1: Ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring. Ch 3 (counts as tr), 2 tr in ring, ch 2, *3 tr in ring, ch 2* three times, sl st to top of ch 3. (4 clusters)
Round 2: Sl st across to next ch-2 corner sp. In corner: ch 3, 2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr. Ch 1. *In next corner sp: 3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr. Ch 1.* three times. Sl st to top of ch 3. (8 clusters)
Round 3: Sl st to next corner sp. Corner: ch 3, 2 tr, ch 2, 3 tr. Ch 1, 3 tr in next side sp, ch 1. *Corner: 3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr. Ch 1, 3 tr in side sp, ch 1.* three times. Sl st to close. (12 clusters)
Round 4+: Repeat as Round 3, working 3 tr, ch 1 in every side sp and 3 tr, ch 2, 3 tr in every corner sp.

Colour changes: fasten off at the end of a round and begin the new colour in any corner space.
Blocking: pin square, spray with water, leave to dry flat for crisp edges before joining.
